Hospital Return

After spending several hours in the hospital last night, we had to return around one in the morning. We got about three hours of sleep. Elyza's breathing started going down hill, so we took her back in. they gave her some medication to stabilize her breathing, and then they decided to keep her under observation for eight hours. But, we are finally home and she seems to be recovering nicely.

Hospital Visit

Elyza complained of a headache this after noon. After having her lay down for a couple of hours without any progress, we decided to take her in. They did blood tests, a shunt series and a ct scan. After all of that, they decided it was a viral infection, they did a breathing treatment and sent us home.

Fundraising efforts

This week was a pretty good week. We worked at the booth on campus until Thursday. We would have gone Friday but the weather had other plans. We pray that the weather will lighten up by Monday. Elyza enjoys saying hi to everyone. She like going for walks around campus with dad and running through the trees. She didn’t enjoy running off the ledge and falling on to the stairs below on Wednesday. Dad didn’t appreciate it either, and mom was stuck at the booth when she heard Elyza’s cry.

We took Elyza to Primary children’s right away, and other than a few bumps and bruises she checked out fine. She will be a bit sore for a few days.

Despair

Well, the title of this post is a good discription of how we felt on Monday morning. No progress it seemed on getting the help from medicaid that we need for going to Patersen, NJ. So, we decided to go to the U Of U to find out if there is anything we can do up there to raise money. We spoke to ASUU and they reffered us to Carol who is over assigning booths. I admit, we were not very hopeful We had aready approched BYU with unsatisfactory results. We were ready to hear that unfortunately only school students were allowed to have a booth. so, it felt good when we were allowed to settup a booth. We are still taking donations, if you are able to, please click on the link below to donate. We aare not expecting have supporters put themselves out, five to ten dollars would be great!

One Little Life, Millions Touched

It has been quite a journey doing fundraisers for Elyza. We really appreciate the support we have received from everyone that has come forth with their donations and given words of encouragement and those who have volunteered their time to help out with the fundraisers. We enjoy being able to write entries that are not full of sad news of Elyza being in the hospital with one illness or another. Elyza is definitely a tough little girl that has touched many lives. She is not afraid to meet people or say hi. We can’t do much to hold her back, well dad doesn’t really try to hold her back from having her say hi to everyone. Mom on the other hand is always worried about her disturbing others. But, more often than not, people are happy to return her greeting.

A Walk to Remember

Well, it certainly has been a long road. Now it seems like we will finally get what we’ve been waiting for. We are slowly going through the steps to admit Elyza into a program that will finally get her off her feeding tube. Paper work, lots and lots of paper work, plus raising money to help get her to NJ. A close friend of Patrice has setup an account with Wels Fargo bank, to help raise money for this treatment. The name of the account is “help Elyza eat.”. We are both excited and nervous, excited to get her off, nervous that something may go wrong.

New Adventure on the Horizon

Well, we are doing well. We are excited, nervous, scared and all sorts of emotions. We met a family in our new ward that had a son on a feeding tube, and he got off. They shared the information to the place where they took their child. It is in Patterson, NJ. We are excited,we spoke to the place which is St. Josephs feeding and Swallowing center. It is a very pricy adventure, so, we are now trying to figure out ways to raise money to take Elyza there.

Doing Great

Elyza has been doing great. She is nibbling here and there. We are still trying to keep our hope that she will some day eat normally.
